Benefits
Why Boxing
for Fitness
By nature, boxing is an aerobic
and anaerobic exercise which
uses the method of interval
training.
An entire boxing mach can be
purely aerobic, but if this were
so, it would be a purely boring
contest. You’ve seen it, two
boxers dancing around the ring,
moving their heads from side to
side, bobbing and weaving so as
not to be a sitting duck. They
throw punches, but without any
commitment, neither is willing
to take the chance of throwing
any powerful combinations. At
the end of the fight, the fans
are booing, both fighters are
breathing hard and are drenched
in sweat, they both just had a
great aerobic workout.
Anaerobic
Anaerobic is that part of the
fight the fans paid to see. This
is when at least one of the
fighters digs down and puts some
muscle in his punches. This
fighter exerts himself by
throwing fast furious and
powerful punches, this fighter
wants to win I grand style.
Interval Training
The separation between the time
a boxer dances around his
opponent while trying to find an
opportunity to land a punch, or
punches, to the time he
unleashes a powerful punch or
flurry of punches is an
interval. The time between
rounds is also an interval. The
advantage of using intervals is
that you can recover from bursts
of energy again and again.This
means that you can work out
harder, and for a longer length
of time, burning more calories
and strengthening your muscles
